Dear Friends,
Visamo Kids Foundation has been bustling with activities and a lot of events have taken place in the past few months. Our children are excelling in their fields of interest along with their academic progress.
Our this months feature is Jeetendra Wagh, who has been with Visamo Kids for four years now. His mother works as labour in building-construction and she is a single parent. Jeetendra is a clever student and works hard to achieve good grades in school. He is a excellent dancer and we are motivating him to take-up dance with a passion. He participated in a national level competition, which was judged by none other than Saroj Khan. Read on. to find out more about his experience.
Our second highlight is the successful completion of the reconstruction of two community halls in the slums of Surat. These halls are used to impart education to the slum dwellers children. The reconstruction was undertaken by Calorx Foundation, the promoter of Visamo Kids Foundation.

Visamo Kids Family wishes all of you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Budding talent

The event My School Rocks took place in November. Before that, I did not even expect that I would get to participate in such a big dance competition. My school decided to take part and send its students. So we began to prepare and practice everyday. We prepared very difficult steps and it took us a lot of practice. My teachers Bhavna maam, Kadambari maam and Devanshi maam helped us prepare our steps, but the main choreography was done by Bhavana maam. Once we were ready, we brought costumes and even had dress rehearsals. Our day of performance was in Thakorebhai Desai Hall on November 17, 2006. When we reached the venue, we saw that many schools were taking part. When we saw some of them perform, we thought that we might not win. But we said to each other that We have to win and put our heart out to dance on stage. After we danced, we got out result and our cassette went to Ms Saroj Khan for final judgement. She said that our expressions were very nice. I liked it when I was on television. After I came to know that people had to look at our performance and vote for us, to win, I asked everyone to vote for us. We came third and I was very glad. And I thank all those people who sent SMSes on our behalf.
We also took part in Explore India, a dance competition that took place at Loyola Hall. I was very nervous there too as we were short of one dance member, so one of our dancers had to danced all by himself. Therefore, since we did not change our steps we reached till finals but did not win. But I was glad that we still continued with our dance and give our best performance.
I love to dance because I want to become an actor and you can become an actor only if you dance well. My favourite hero is Hritik Roshan and he is a great dancer. When I dance I am very nervous and when I go on stage I touch the feet of my guru and the stage, then I feel better. I like Western fusion and whole lot more than folk dance. But I am comfortable dancing both. In the future I want to attend some professional dance classes to learn different types of dances.

Surat Flood Relief

Each time a calamity has struck, Calorx Foundation has taken up the responsibility to help in the relief work. And recently came the rains that created a deluge in Surat. The condition was so grave that even today the city is reeling with the after effects. A lot needed to be done, and like every drop makes the ocean, the Calorx Foundation took up the responsibility to help revive the lost educational premises and helped reconstruct two Community Halls in the slum areas of Surat. These halls are used by NGOs to impart education to the children living in those slums. Today, when you walk into any of the two halls, you will see children doling out songs or immersed in serious study of their textbooks.
